ALERT: Temperature@lert Outbound SMTP Users

Do you currently use Temperature@lert's SMTP server settings to send out your device's statuses and alerts? Well it's time to switch to Gmail!

Although we have previously offered our SMTP settings, this service is no longer being continued due to reaching automated sending limits by our server. We are now requesting that everyone who does use our SMTP settings switch to Gmail. Here are the Gmail settings if you do not have a Gmail SMTP settings readily available with your latest software/firmware:

Tip: Considerations for Effectively Monitoring Refrigerators, Freezers, and Coolers

Whether you're monitoring ice cream or vaccines, storage temperature plays a significant role. After all nothing could be worse than walking into a large puddle of melted/spoiled product or even worse damaged research materials. Although it is easy to hope that refrigerators, freezers, and coolers actually stay at a  consistent cold temperature, many do not plan for equipment malfunctions nor power outages.

No one or company is exempt from such a harsh reality, for example Harvard's McLean Freezer's recent incident. Their freezer, containing brains for research on Autism and other neurological conditions, had malfunctioned causing 150 brains to decay and decompose. A loss of this magnitude is not only financially damaging but has potentially set back research on neurological conditions for a decade. This type of research material damage, illustrates that you truly cannot put a price on proper storage.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) estimates that 17%-37% of vaccinations are improperly stored. Not only members in the medical and pharmaceutical industry are effected but members of the food and beverage industry suffer from malfunctioning cooling equipment. As our Facebook Fan, Chris Stepanian noted, "I can't see why every restaurant and food distributor doesn't have [a Temperature@lert device]".

For refrigeration needs, we suggest either our WIFI or CELL device. The CELL has a backup battery that can transmit even during a power loss. Our WIFI is also an excellent option if you currently have an implemented
UPS backup power as well. Either device combined with our temperature sensor can help you monitor more efficiently and alert you to any problems. Specialized sensors and accessories are available as well, such as: stainless steel tipped temperature probes for submerging in liquid, expanded range probes for cryogenic temperatures, and buffer vials so you do not set off false alerts for when the cooler door is opened.

By preparing for potential disaster, you can feel secure knowing that Temperature@lert is there for you when you need it and there when you can't be there. Does that sound like an exaggeration or an overstated guarantee? We can assure you that it is not. Temperature@lert is working whether you are working or not. Our devices work whether you are awake or asleep because we strive to be the most innovative monitoring system for our users.

Unfortunately, our team has heard story after story about loss through improper storage and Harvard's incident is not just another rare mishap. Save Water with Us by Voting for Us to Win the Mission: Small Business Grant

Currently, Temperature@lert has produced USB, WIFI, CELL, and SOLAR CELL devices. Through our innovation, we have recently been recognized as the 2012 winner of MITX (Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange) Innovation Award for Best Bootstrapped Start-Up and our SOLAR CELL device has won an award for Best "Doing Good" Innovation and is currently an American Business Award Stevie Finalist for Best New Industrial Product in 2012. Our SOLAR CELL has flourished quite well in the agricultural industry yet there has been a large demand for a device as such but for smaller scaled farms and gardens.

Drawing on our previous experience in software and hardware from our SOLAR CELL device, we have created a product project called "PHYL". PHYL will be a cost-effective, compact solar-powered cellular device created for said users. In order to have PHYL be more user-friendly and relatable, our prototype has a green-leaf mounting-frame surrounding a solar cellular edition that is 50% smaller than its industrial parent edition, SOLAR CELL. However, similar to our SOLAR CELL device, PHYL will be able to monitor soil moisture and temperature so that the user can conserve water and have the most optimal conditions for growth.

Although we do have a prototype built, we still have some innovative ideas we'd like to add to our current model. Our plan with the funding would be mainly used to implement these ideas along with refining our prototype of PHYL. The features we would like to develop further are wireless versions of our plug-and-play smart sensors, new wireless smart sensor capabilities, and a separate Sensor Cloud platform aimed towards promoting crop/plant growth. We would also like to create an online community where users will be able to discuss growing tips and request new sensor features. We plan on this small device to pack a punch while remaining cost-effective, simple to set up and use.

Temperature@lert is Named a MITX Winner of the 2012 Innovation Awards

Temperature@lert has been selected as a winner in the category of Best Bootstrapped Start-Up and Best “Doing Good” Innovation at the 2012 MITX Innovation Awards. Temperature@lert was one of two organizations that won two awards this year.

Temperautre@lert, whose mission is to provide low-cost, high performance temperature monitoring, won these awards based on it’s Solar Cellular Edition product.  Temperature@lert’s TM-CELL500 solar powered, cellular sensing and alerting system combines Temperature@lert’s latest generation cellular engine with a host of agricultural related sensors and control devices.  By using Temperature@lert’s industrial smart sensors, agriculturalists now have the ability to use technology to effectively monitor and ensure proper crop growth. If an action is taken, such as turning on sprinklers to prevent frost from damaging crops, for example, customers will receive email, SMS text message, and phone calls letting them know what is going on.

Approximately 100% farmers over-water their crops and plants.  The vast majority (90%) of water use by farmers in the United States is for irrigation. The combination of these two percentages illustrate significant water waste, run off, and wasted dollars. The agricultural industry is a major player for ground and surface water usage, which accounts for about 80% of the water consumption in the United States. Therefore, a solar cellular environmental monitoring device saves water and therefore, also saves fuel and dollars. By discovering the correct amount of water to use, a farmer can not only cut costs and spending but he/she can alleviate over-watering and stop  straining the water system.

Existing environmental monitoring systems with such capabilities cost upwards of at least $10,000. However there are more affordable and cost-effective solutions, such as Temperature@lert’s Solar Cellular Edition.  This product provides similar functionality at a fraction of the cost and can be installed in minutes. Their unit can save enough water in a year for up to 9,000 people. This assumes a 200 acre farm, 6.21 gal water/cu ft on farm per year, 50% water reduction, and 50 gallons per day of water use per person.

Solar Cellular Device is Named an American Business Awards Stevie Finalist

Temperature@lert was named a Finalist earlier this past month in the Best New Product or Service - Industrial Products & Services category in the 2012 American Business Awards, and will ultimately be a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Stevie Award winner in the program for our Solar Cellular Edition product.

Temperature@lert’s TM-CELL500 solar powered, cellular sensing and alerting system combines Temperature@lert’s latest generation cellular engine with a host of agricultural related sensors and control devices.  The heart of the system is the cellular Sensor Cloud, a secure server based service employing a web interface where users can log on from any computer or smartphone to see the conditions of their crops. By using Temperature@lert’s industrial smart sensors, growers  now have the ability to use technology to effectively cut water consumption by more than 50%, monitor for potential pest management issues such as fungus and guard against frost in order to maintain or improve crop yield and reduce waste.
